I am pleased to welcome you to
the Chronic Care Center. Founded in 1994, this
Center is the result of countless generous
efforts.
It has succeeded in giving human
comfort to a continuously increasing number of
children suffering from chronic diseases too
hard to handle by them and their families. Here,
the patient is at the center of everything we
do. All the services are at his disposal and all
the activities are organized for his benefit. The
Chronic Care Center’s family has grown to include on
June 2006, 1740 youngsters, 1110 of whom are
insulin-dependent diabetics
and 630 thalassemics.
They are provided with an optimal medical care and
follow-up with ongoing
psychosocial orientation to help them cope with
their chronic condition. |

Keeping abreast with developments in clinical
research, the Center also worked with great efforts
to promote its preventive role. Through its genetic
counseling, educational programs and awareness
campaigns, the Center aims to increase the
understanding of the biological basis of diseases,
reduce risks and complications and contribute in
building up healthy generations.
Treating today's diseases and promoting tomorrow's
health is the mission of the Center.
On behalf of the women and men who comprise the
Board of Trustees of the Chronic Care Center, I
thank all the people who have supported this mission
and have given hope to so many children.
