May 1998: formulation of a non-profit collaborative agreement between the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and the Chronic Care Center (CCC). The mission of this collaborative program is to promote research and development in genetics in both the USA and Lebanon.
March 2000: official inauguration of the Genetics Research Laboratory

December 2000: The CCC was granted an
official permit from the Ministry of Public Health
to operate a full diagnostic laboratory.
Harvard support Lebanese genetics lab London. Lebanon has opened a new Genetics Research Laboratory based in the Chronic Care Center in Baabda. The laboratory has been established to address congenital and genetically determined chronic disorders.
The laboratory is the result of close collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), which will allow work on environmental and genetic epidemiological studies to look at the relative contribution of genetic and environmental factors of complex diseases.
The Laboratory hopes to promote and provide research and development in molecular genetics in the Lebanon and elsewhere.
